Methodology

Transparent calculation

BuildMeter converts every input to a consistent internal unit, applies the selected allowance, and rounds products up to whole purchasable units.

Net wall area = garage perimeter × wall height − door and window openings. Packages = round up (net area × allowance ÷ package coverage).

Calculation steps

Worked numerical example

A 24 ft × 24 ft garage with 9 ft walls has 864 ft² gross wall area. Subtracting 180 ft² of doors and windows leaves 684 ft²; with 8% allowance, plan 739 ft².
