Calculation steps

Worked numerical example
A 300 ft² floor averaging 1/4 in depth contains 6.25 ft³. With 12% allowance and 0.5 ft³ yield per bag, the quantity is 14 full bags.

Interpret the result
Average depth is the most sensitive input. Doubling depth doubles material, even though floor area remains unchanged.
