Methodology

Transparent calculation

BuildMeter converts every input to a consistent internal unit, applies the selected allowance, and rounds products up to whole purchasable units.

Gross area = length × depth. Net area subtracts cutouts. Volume = net area × thickness, and installed weight = volume × density. Fabrication cost uses net area plus allowance.

FAQ

Countertop Weight Calculator questions

Are sink cutouts subtracted from countertop weight?+

Yes, the entered cutout area reduces the installed material volume.

Do built-up edges add weight?+

Yes. Laminated edges, backsplashes and seams should be estimated separately or added through a higher allowance.

Can this verify cabinet support?+

No. Support design depends on cabinet construction, spans, overhangs, seams and material requirements.
