What each value means
The labels and units below are part of this calculator’s visible methodology. Replace every default with measurements or product data from the actual project.
Exterior foundation sill length
Enter this project assumption in ft. The current imperial default is 180 ft.
Interior bearing-wall sill length
Enter this project assumption in ft. The current imperial default is 40 ft. Minimum: 0.
Sealer layers
Enter this project assumption in a unitless value. The current imperial default is 1. Minimum: 1.
Approved deductions
Enter this project assumption in ft. The current imperial default is 0 ft. Minimum: 0.
Laps, corners and cuts allowance
Enter this project assumption in %. The current imperial default is 10 %. Minimum: 0. Maximum: 50.
Sill-sealer length per roll
Enter this project assumption in ft. The current imperial default is 50 ft.
Rolls per case
Enter this project assumption in a unitless value. The current imperial default is 12.
Price per case
Enter this project assumption in a unitless value. The current imperial default is 96. Minimum: 0.
How to read the outputs
Net sill run
exterior plus interior runs minus deductions. Default preview: 220 ft.
Base layered length
1 layer. Default preview: 220 ft.
Purchased rolls
12 rolls per case. Default preview: 12.
Purchased sealer length
full-case quantity. Default preview: 600 ft.
Unused purchased length
after laps and package rounding. Default preview: 358 ft.
Sill-sealer cost
full cases only. Default preview: $96.00.
Methodology
Transparent calculation
BuildMeter converts every input to a consistent internal unit, applies the selected allowance, and rounds products up to whole purchasable units.
Net run = exterior sill + interior runs − approved deductions. Multiply by layers, add lap allowance, round to rolls, then round to cases.

FAQ
Sill Sealer Calculator questions
Should door openings be deducted?+
Only deduct locations where no sill plate or gasket will be installed. Many framed wall runs remain continuous during layout.
Does sill sealer replace caulk?+
Not necessarily. Joints, anchor penetrations and irregular gaps may need compatible sealant in addition to the gasket.
What width should be ordered?+
Match the sill plate and project detail. Width is a product-selection decision rather than a length calculation.
