Why does COP reduce electricity use?+

A heat pump transfers heat from the air, so delivered thermal energy can be several times the electrical energy consumed.

Does this include daily heat maintenance?+

No. It estimates one initial temperature increase. Daily maintenance depends strongly on evaporation, wind, covers and weather.

Can this estimate gas-heater cost?+

Not directly. Gas heaters use fuel input and combustion efficiency rather than heat-pump COP.
