Methodology

Transparent calculation

BuildMeter converts every input to a consistent internal unit, applies the selected allowance, and rounds products up to whole purchasable units.

Inside area = π × (diameter ÷ 2)². Volume = inside area × pipe length × quantity. Fill time = volume ÷ fill flow.

FAQ

Pipe Volume Calculator questions

Should nominal or inside diameter be entered?+

Use the actual inside diameter because wall thickness changes capacity.

Why does pipe schedule affect volume?+

Different wall thicknesses produce different inside diameters for the same nominal pipe size.

Does this calculate flowing capacity?+

No. It calculates static internal volume. Flow capacity also depends on pressure, slope, friction and fittings.
