Methodology

Transparent calculation

BuildMeter converts every input to a consistent internal unit, applies the selected allowance, and rounds products up to whole purchasable units.

Net layered area = (gross area − openings) × layers. Waste is added and sheets are rounded up. Sheet, cutting, accessory and delivery costs are subtotaled before the entered tax rate.

FAQ

Plywood Cost Calculator questions

Why is this separate from a plywood sheet calculator?+

This tool focuses on a complete cost budget, including cutting, accessories, delivery and tax, while the sheet calculator focuses on material quantity and coverage.

Should openings always be deducted?+

Large openings can be deducted, but small cutouts may not reduce sheet purchases because offcuts are not always reusable.

Does the lowest sheet price mean the panel is suitable?+

No. Use the required grade, thickness, exposure rating, span rating and treatment for the assembly.
