Transparent calculation

BuildMeter converts every input to a consistent internal unit, applies the selected allowance, and rounds products up to whole purchasable units.

Room load = area × base load rate × ceiling factor × envelope factor × reserve. Corrected radiator output = rated output × water-temperature factor. Units are rounded up.

Worked numerical example

A room with a 5,000 Btu/h design heat loss needs radiator output of at least 5,000 Btu/h at the selected supply/return and room temperatures, not merely at the catalog reference condition.

Purchasing and rounding

Choose radiator size from manufacturer output tables corrected for the intended water and room temperatures. Keep valve, piping and balancing requirements separate from emitter output.

Interpret the result

The result matches room heat loss to required emitter output. Lower water temperatures reduce radiator capacity, so a unit adequate at a high-temperature rating may be undersized in a low-temperature system.
