Methodology

Transparent calculation

BuildMeter converts every input to a consistent internal unit, applies the selected allowance, and rounds products up to whole purchasable units.

Water-heating demand uses water volume × temperature rise × water heat capacity. Current input divides by efficiency; heat-pump input divides by COP. Savings equal the annual input-energy difference × electricity price.

Why does installation location affect savings?+

A heat-pump water heater draws heat from surrounding air, so ambient temperature and available room volume affect performance.

Does this include cooling or dehumidification benefits?+

No. Any effect on surrounding-space heating or cooling is excluded.

Is simple payback the same as lifecycle cost?+

No. Lifecycle analysis also includes maintenance, replacements, financing, incentives and future energy prices.
