What each value means

The labels and units below are part of this calculator’s visible methodology. Replace every default with measurements or product data from the actual project.

Total gutter length

Enter this project assumption in ft. The current imperial default is 180 ft.

Separate gutter runs

Enter this project assumption in a unitless value. The current imperial default is 4. Minimum: 1.

Hanger spacing

Enter this project assumption in in. The current imperial default is 24 in.

Hanger offset from each run end

Enter this project assumption in in. The current imperial default is 6 in.

Extra hangers at outlets and corners

Enter this project assumption in a unitless value. The current imperial default is 12. Minimum: 0.

Damage and spare allowance

Enter this project assumption in %. The current imperial default is 8 %. Minimum: 0. Maximum: 50.

Hangers per pack

Enter this project assumption in a unitless value. The current imperial default is 50.

Price per pack

Enter this project assumption in a unitless value. The current imperial default is 46. Minimum: 0.

Methodology

Transparent calculation

BuildMeter converts every input to a consistent internal unit, applies the selected allowance, and rounds products up to whole purchasable units.

Each run receives end hangers plus regularly spaced interior hangers. Extra reinforced locations and spare allowance are added before rounding to full packs.

FAQ

Gutter Hanger Calculator questions

Why enter the number of gutter runs?+

Each separate run needs end hangers, so several short runs can require more hardware than one continuous run.

Should outlets receive extra hangers?+

Many installations reinforce outlets, corners and joints, but use the gutter-system instructions for exact placement.

Does this include fascia screws?+

It estimates hanger pieces. Verify whether the selected pack includes suitable fasteners.
