How to read the outputs
Calculated adhesive
including waste. Default preview: 5.19 gal.
Base adhesive volume
before waste. Default preview: 4.72 gal.
Purchased volume
whole pails. Default preview: 8 gal.
Material allowance
pails × entered price. Default preview: $250.00.

after package rounding. Default preview: 2.81 gal.
Methodology
Transparent calculation
BuildMeter converts every input to a consistent internal unit, applies the selected allowance, and rounds products up to whole purchasable units.
Base adhesive volume = floor area ÷ product coverage. Waste is added, then pails are rounded up from package size. Cost = rounded pails × price per pail.
FAQ
Flooring Adhesive Calculator questions
Why does trowel size matter?+
A larger notch deposits more adhesive and lowers coverage, so the product coverage should match the specified trowel.
Can one adhesive be used for every flooring type?+
No. Flooring products and substrates can require specific adhesive chemistry and moisture limits.
Does this include adhesive under waste flooring pieces?+
The waste percentage is intended to cover handling and spread variation, but the floor area should represent the installed surface.
