Use this calculator to estimate sealant volume and cartridge count from joint length, width, depth and package size. Joint design, backing material, adhesion and movement capability must follow the selected sealant system.
Calculation steps

Worked numerical example
A 300 ft joint that is 3/8 in wide and 1/4 in deep contains about 337.5 in³. After 15% loss, it requires roughly 13 standard 10.1 fl oz cartridges.
Purchasing and rounding
Coverage charts assume a consistent bead. Irregular joints, porous substrates and nozzle waste reduce real coverage. Use the exact package volume.
Interpret the result
Joint depth has the same direct effect as width. Backer rod often controls depth and prevents three-sided adhesion.
