Number of coats

Enter this project assumption in a unitless value. The current imperial default is 2. Minimum: 1.

Coverage per gallon or litre

Enter this project assumption in ft²/gal. The current imperial default is 100 ft²/gal.

Waste and texture allowance

Enter this project assumption in %. The current imperial default is 10 %. Minimum: 0. Maximum: 75.

Sealcoat per pail

Enter this project assumption in gal. The current imperial default is 5 gal.

Price per pail

Enter this project assumption in a unitless value. The current imperial default is 38. Minimum: 0.

Methodology

Transparent calculation

BuildMeter converts every input to a consistent internal unit, applies the selected allowance, and rounds products up to whole purchasable units.

Sealcoat volume = pavement area × coats ÷ product coverage. The waste allowance is applied before dividing by pail volume and rounding up.

FAQ

Asphalt Sealcoat Calculator questions

Should coverage be entered per coat?+

Yes. Enter the product coverage for one applied coat, then choose the number of coats planned.

Does this include crack filler?+

No. Crack repair, patching and primer are separate from the sealcoat volume.

Why might rough asphalt need more material?+

Open or weathered pavement holds more coating in surface voids, reducing practical coverage.
