Methodology

Transparent calculation

BuildMeter converts every input to a consistent internal unit, applies the selected allowance, and rounds products up to whole purchasable units.

Net wall area = room perimeter × height − openings. Target treatment area = net wall area × coverage percentage. Panels are rounded up, then allowance is applied.

FAQ

Acoustic Panel Calculator questions

Is covering more wall always better?+

Not necessarily. Excess absorption can make a room too dead, while poor placement can leave reflections untreated.

Should panels be placed evenly?+

Placement depends on speaker positions, listening locations, reflection points and room purpose.

Does this estimate bass traps?+

No. Low-frequency treatment requires different sizes, locations and performance data.
