Methodology

Transparent calculation

BuildMeter converts every input to a consistent internal unit, applies the selected allowance, and rounds products up to whole purchasable units.

Net wall area = room perimeter × height − openings. Target treatment area = net wall area × coverage percentage. Panels are rounded up, then allowance is applied.

Worked numerical example

Covering 20% of a 600 ft² combined wall-and-ceiling treatment area requires 120 ft², or 15 panels at 8 ft² each.

Purchasing and rounding

Order panels by their actual face dimensions and mounting orientation, not by nominal room area. Convert the treatment target into panel count, round up to whole panels, and allow extras only for cuts, damaged pieces or deliberate symmetry in the layout.

Interpret the result

Read the result as treatment coverage and panel quantity, not as a promised acoustic rating. Panel placement, absorption coefficients, room volume and the untreated surfaces determine the real acoustic response; use the count to plan coverage before final placement is tuned.
