Methodology
Transparent calculation
BuildMeter converts every input to a consistent internal unit, applies the selected allowance, and rounds products up to whole purchasable units.
Coat-equivalent area = tiled area × coats × allowance factor. Bottles are rounded up from product coverage.
FAQ
Tile Grout Sealer Calculator questions
Why use tiled area instead of grout-line length?+
Many product labels publish approximate coverage by tiled area. A grout-line method is more detailed when joint geometry is known.
Do all grout products require sealing?+
No. Some grout systems are designed not to need a penetrating sealer.
Can sealer damage tile?+
Residue can haze some surfaces. Test the application and follow cleanup instructions.
