Transparent calculation

BuildMeter converts every input to a consistent internal unit, applies the selected allowance, and rounds products up to whole purchasable units.

Annual tilt is absolute latitude plus the entered adjustment. Summer and winter targets subtract or add the seasonal adjustment. Raised-edge height uses array length × sin(tilt difference).

Solar Panel Tilt Calculator questions

Is latitude always the best fixed tilt?+

No. It is a simple starting point. Energy tariffs, seasonal demand, orientation, shading and local weather may favor another angle.

Should panels be raised above an existing roof?+

Not automatically. Flush mounting often reduces cost and wind loading even when roof pitch differs from the simple target.

Does the raised-edge result size structural supports?+

No. It shows geometry only. Racking and roof attachments require engineered product and structural verification.
