Methodology
Transparent calculation
BuildMeter converts every input to a consistent internal unit, applies the selected allowance, and rounds products up to whole purchasable units.
Thermal energy = water mass × specific heat × temperature rise. Input energy divides thermal energy by heater efficiency. Monthly energy adds full heat-ups and entered standby use.
FAQ
Hot Tub Heating Cost Calculator questions
Why can standby energy exceed heat-up energy?+
A maintained hot tub loses heat every day, so continuous standby losses can dominate monthly use.
Does the calculator include pump energy?+
Only when it is included in the entered standby energy. Separate filtration and jet-pump use can be added to the standby estimate.
How does a better cover affect cost?+
A well-fitted insulated cover reduces evaporation and heat loss, lowering standby consumption.
