This calculator estimates epoxy coating kits from floor area, coat count, solids-adjusted product coverage and waste. It does not select a coating system or determine moisture, surface-profile or slip-resistance requirements.
Calculation steps
- 1Measure the coated floor and vertical returns separately.
- 2Count primer, build and finish coats that use the entered product.
- 3Use published coverage at the specified wet-film thickness.
- 4Add allowance and round to full kits.
Worked numerical example
A 600 ft² garage with primer plus one finish coat produces 1,200 ft² of coat-area. At 250 ft² per kit and 10% allowance, six kits are required after rounding.
Purchasing and rounding
Two-component products have fixed mix ratios and pot life. Round to complete compatible kits and plan batch sizes that can be placed within the working time.
Interpret the result
Coverage is controlled by film thickness and surface profile. Stretching a kit over more area reduces the installed film and may compromise performance.
