Methodology

Transparent calculation

BuildMeter converts every input to a consistent internal unit, applies the selected allowance, and rounds products up to whole purchasable units.

Board area = surface area × layers. Base weight = board area × entered weight per area. Attached-material allowance increases that weight. Loads are rounded up from the usable weight per load.

Does drywall thickness affect weight?+

Yes. Use a weight-per-area value that matches the actual panel thickness and product type.

Why add an attached-material allowance?+

Demolished wallboard commonly includes joint compound, tape, screws, paint and small amounts of attached material.

Can wet drywall use the same estimate?+

No. Water-damaged board may be much heavier, so use a higher measured or supplier-provided weight assumption.
