What each value means
The labels and units below are part of this calculator’s visible methodology. Replace every default with measurements or product data from the actual project.
Concrete ordered
Enter this project assumption in yd³. The current imperial default is 12 yd³.
Measured placement length
Enter this project assumption in ft. The current imperial default is 42 ft.
Measured placement width
Enter this project assumption in ft. The current imperial default is 20 ft.
Average placed depth
Enter this project assumption in in. The current imperial default is 4.5 in.
Other beams, thickened edges or waste
Enter this project assumption in yd³. The current imperial default is 0.8 yd³. Minimum: 0.
Desired reserve after placement
Enter this project assumption in %. The current imperial default is 5 %. Minimum: 0. Maximum: 25.
How to read the outputs
Measured slab volume
length × width × average depth. Default preview: 11.67 yd³.
Total measured use
includes entered additional volume. Default preview: 12.47 yd³.
Yield percentage
measured use ÷ ordered volume. Default preview: 103.9%.
Coverage per ordered volume
at the entered average depth. Default preview: 70 ft²/yd³.
Target reserve
5% of measured use. Default preview: 0.62 yd³.
Order for target reserve
measured use plus reserve. Default preview: 13.09 yd³.
Methodology
Transparent calculation
BuildMeter converts every input to a consistent internal unit, applies the selected allowance, and rounds products up to whole purchasable units.
Measured use = slab length × width × average depth + other entered volume. Yield percentage = measured use ÷ ordered volume × 100. Balance = ordered volume − measured use.

FAQ
Concrete Yield Calculator questions
Why can measured yield differ from the delivery ticket?+
Average thickness, subgrade depressions, form dimensions, spillage and measurement uncertainty can change the field estimate.
What should be entered as other volume?+
Include thickened edges, grade beams, pump priming, test samples or other concrete that is not represented by the main slab dimensions.
Does a yield above 100% always mean a supplier shortage?+
No. It first indicates that the measured use exceeds the order. Verify dimensions, average depth and all placement assumptions before drawing a conclusion.
