Methodology

Transparent calculation

BuildMeter converts every input to a consistent internal unit, applies the selected allowance, and rounds products up to whole purchasable units.

Slab area = length × width. Order area = slab area × overlap/waste factor. Rolls = round up (order area ÷ roll area).

Calculation steps

  1. 1Measure slab footprint by placement.
  2. 2Add required lap and perimeter allowances.
  3. 3Account for penetrations and grade-beam interruptions.
  4. 4Round rolls and tape separately.

Worked numerical example

A 40 ft × 60 ft slab is 2,400 ft². Adding 10% for laps and penetrations gives 2,640 ft²; divide by the roll’s net coverage and round upward.

Use a vapor retarder meeting project puncture, permeance and durability requirements; protect it during reinforcement placement.

Interpret the result
