Methodology
Transparent calculation
BuildMeter converts every input to a consistent internal unit, applies the selected allowance, and rounds products up to whole purchasable units.
Top area = length × width × slab count. Edge area = perimeter × thickness × slab count. Selected faces are added, then multiplied by the coverage allowance. Containers are rounded up.

FAQ
Concrete Surface Area Calculator questions
When should the bottom face be included?+
Include it for precast pieces or slabs coated before installation. Most slabs placed on grade do not have an accessible bottom face.
Why include concrete edges?+
Exposed slab edges, steps and freestanding pads add coating area beyond the top surface.
Does this calculate concrete volume?+
No. It estimates exposed surface area for coatings, sealers or finishes. Use a concrete-volume calculator for the pour quantity.
