Use this calculator to estimate concrete sealer containers from surface area, coat count and the exact product coverage. It does not determine whether a penetrating, film-forming or specialty sealer is suitable for the slab.
Calculation steps
- 1Measure only the surface that will be sealed.
- 2Multiply by the planned number of coats.
- 3Use the manufacturer coverage for the surface porosity and application method.
- 4Add allowance and round to full containers.
Worked numerical example
A 1,200 ft² driveway receiving two coats creates 2,400 ft² of coat-area. At 250 ft² per gallon and 10% allowance, the order is 11 gallons, rounded to the available container sizes.
Purchasing and rounding
Coverage can vary greatly between the first and later coats. Purchase container combinations that meet or exceed the total volume while respecting shelf-life and mixing requirements.
Interpret the result
A lower coverage value means more product is absorbed or deposited per square foot. It should not be increased merely to reduce the estimated order.
