Transparent calculation
BuildMeter converts every input to a consistent internal unit, applies the selected allowance, and rounds products up to whole purchasable units.
Panels = round up (net wall area × waste factor ÷ panel area). Battens = round up (wall length ÷ spacing) + one end batten.

Worked numerical example
A 24 ft wall with battens at 16 in on center needs about 19 batten lines including both ends before openings.
Purchasing and rounding
Choose boards and battens from actual exposed widths and available stock lengths. Lay out corners and openings first, then round linear footage to whole boards of the lengths you can buy; add cut allowance where short offcuts cannot be reused between wall sections.
Interpret the result
