Worked numerical example

A triangular cricket 8 ft wide with a 4 ft run has 16 ft² of plan area before slope conversion; the sloped surface area is higher according to pitch.

Why is the surface area not simply base × projection?+

The cricket has two sloped triangular planes; the formula uses their combined sloped width.

How much detail allowance is normal?+

Crickets involve laps, corners and curb transitions, so a larger allowance than open-field roofing is often reasonable.

Does this design drainage slope?+

No. Verify cricket geometry and drainage with the roof designer and membrane manufacturer.
