Mulch depth

Enter this project assumption in in. The current imperial default is 3 in.

Settling and waste allowance

Enter this project assumption in %. The current imperial default is 10 %. Minimum: 0. Maximum: 40.

Delivery capacity per truck

Enter this project assumption in yd³. The current imperial default is 10 yd³.

Material price

Enter this project assumption in per yd³. The current imperial default is 48 per yd³. Minimum: 0.

Delivery fee per truck

Enter this project assumption in per truck. The current imperial default is 95 per truck. Minimum: 0.

Methodology

Transparent calculation

BuildMeter converts every input to a consistent internal unit, applies the selected allowance, and rounds products up to whole purchasable units.

Mulch volume = area × depth. Settling/waste allowance is added. Truckloads = round up (order volume ÷ delivery capacity).

FAQ

Mulch Delivery Calculator questions

Why can delivered volume exceed the order volume?+

The calculator assumes full truck capacities. A supplier may offer a smaller or partial load.

Should old mulch be considered?+

Yes. Reduce the new depth when an existing layer remains in good condition.

Does this include spreading labor?+

No. The cost estimate includes editable material and delivery charges only.
