Methodology

Transparent calculation

BuildMeter converts every input to a consistent internal unit, applies the selected allowance, and rounds products up to whole purchasable units.

Solid stair volume = width × tread depth × riser height × n(n + 1) ÷ 2. Landing volume is added, then the allowance is applied and bags are rounded up.

FAQ

Concrete Steps Calculator questions

Why does stair volume use a triangular series?+

Each tread segment supports a different concrete height. Adding those increasing step prisms produces the n(n + 1) ÷ 2 factor.

Does the calculator check stair-code geometry?+

No. Riser height, tread depth, landings, handrails and guards must meet the rules that apply to the project.

Are these steps assumed to be solid?+

Yes. Hollow, suspended or precast stair systems use different quantities and engineering.
